Story
Ntaba Nyoni is proud to have been the first cattle farm to introduce Ankole Longhorns into South Africa. This achievement was thanks to the vision of proud owner and President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa
We have been in the cattle-farming business for 20 years. Over these two decades, our cattle farming endeavours have gone through a number of stages as we have learned to adapt and innovate.
Our Vision
Our cattle breeding philosophy is based on acquiring the best genetics of the cattle we breed with, good record keeping and good management. We boast some of the finest cattle in South Africa, with a focus on excellence and conserving our natural surroundings. Our vision is to breed top genetics and to be the proud leader in the South African cattle industry.

CATTLE FARMING
AT Ntaba Nyoni
Our cattle farming started off with the backgrounding of weaner which we bought from a number of breeders from as far afield as the Eastern cape, Vryburg and Namibia. Our cattle reached a backgrounding herd of 6 000.
Cattle Breeding
When weaner backgrounding seemed less profitable, we started on our journey to becoming a true cattle-breeding operation, with an initial focus on mixed breeds.
Cattle Feedlot
We started a feedlot and grew our numbers to 8 000 at any given time. As soon as the feedlot was operating successfully, our focus shifted towards our ultimate passion of breeding cattle studs.
Stud Cattle Farming
Our stud-farming journey started after President Ramaphosa’s attraction to the Ankole Cattle when he visited Uganda in 2004. Following his irresistible attraction to the Ankole, we then bought 40 cows and 3 bulls from President Museveni. The embryos of these cattle were finally brought to South Africa and they are the foundation of the Ankole stud cattle that are in South Africa today. Today we are farming with Ankole, Bonsmara, Boran, Nguni and Wagyu.
